Young man suspected of stealing over 2km of cable for Internet
The police arrested a 20-year-old man from Chisinau on suspicion that he stole about 2 kilometers of cable for connection to the Internet from a number of apartment buildings.
General Police Commissariat spokesman Adrian Jovmir has told Info-Prim Neo that the man was caught red-handed, after he stole 300 meters of cable from a building situated on Ginta Latina St.
According to the police, the man confessed that he burned the cable stolen at night in the wood and collected the copper wire, which he sold as scarp metal. He is suspected of stealing over 2 kilometers of cable and causing damage of more than 7,000 lei.
The young man faces a fine of 6,000 to 20,000 lei or up to four years' imprisonment.
