Young man suspected of stealing about 180,000 lei from bank account of Chisinau resident
The police detained a young man suspected of appropriating approximately 180,000 lei from the bank account of a Chisinau woman, Info-Prim Neo has learned from the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The suspect aged 27, native of Criuleni district, has monitored the victim since 2005, when he found out that the woman had two bank accounts in a Chisinau bank. The woman regularly received money from abroad, from her mother.
The young man stole the identity card of the victim through the agency of some friends that knew the victim and forged her signature. Together with two employees of the bank – a security worker and a cashier – the suspect forged the signature on the bank checks. During about a year, the three partners in crime embezzled about 180,000 lei.
Legal action was taken against the suspect under article 195, paragraph 2 of the Penal Code of Moldova – misappropriation in large and extremely large amounts. The two accomplices are being investigated. If found guilty, the man would serve 10 to 25 years in jail.
