A man aged 22 suffered serious injuries when he crashed his car into a roadside tree in Cantemir district last night. The driver got stuck in the damaged car. An extrication team was called out to take him out.

Contacted by IPN for details, press officer of the Cantemir Police Inspectorate Cristina Ciobanu said the accident happened on the road between the villages Sadîc and Vishnyovka at about 3am. The young man, who is from the municipality of Comrat, was traveling from Vishnyovka to Comrat. At a certain moment, the vehicle went out of control and ran into a tree.

The driver was rushed to the Comrat District Hospital and was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.

According to the police, owing to the suffered traumas, the driver could not be tested with a Drager device, but blood samples were taken from him to see if he drank alcoholic beverages. An investigation is underway.
