A 22-year-old man died and a teenage girl was hurt when they were hit by a car at a crosswalk at the intersection of the Chisinau streets Dacia and Decebal last night. The driver of the car didn’t stop to help.

The impact was fatal for the young man, who died on the spot. The 17-year-old girl was rushed to the Mother and Child Institute and is now reportedly out of danger. 

Press officer of the Chisinau Police Division Natalia Stati has told IPN that measures are now being taken to establish the whereabouts of the driver. There were four more persons in the car that was abandoned at the scene. These are to be questioned as witnesses.

Legal action was taken in this case and the driver faces up to seven years behind bars.
