Young man killed, child hurt in jaywalking accidents
A 23-year-old man died and a 4-year-old boy was injured in two traffic accidents that occurred simultaneously in different parts of Chisinau on Tuesday. Both vehicles involved are from Transnistria.
Road Safety Inspector of the Chisinau Traffic Police Ion Roscovanu has told Info-Prim Neo that the first accident occurred at 22:30 when a Tighina-plated Mazda, driven by a 22-year-old man, fatally struck the 23-year-old resident of Sangerei while he was trying to jaywalk across Muncesti Street. The victim died almost instantly.
At around the same time, a jaywalking man with his 4-year-old son in his arms was hit on Dacia Blvd by a BMW car with Rabnita plates. The impact caused the boy to fall from his father’s arms, injuring his shoulder. The father escaped without a scratch.
Both accidents are investigated to identify who is to blame.
23 minor accidents were also recorded on Tuesday. Police officers fined 92 drivers for speeding, 23 for driving on red color, 58 for driving unbuckled and 10 pedestrians for jaywalking.
