A man aged 24 from Chisinau was sentenced to 12 years in jail for murdering his mother, IPN reports, quoting the Prosecutor General’s Office.

The crime was committed this March. The young man returned home late at night after drinking alcoholic beverages together with a friend of his. Angry that his mother scolded him, he strangled her, hitting her also with a wooden object. The 61-year-old woman died on the spot.

The sentence can be appealed to a higher court.
