Young man faces six years in jail for stealing golden necklaces
A 26-year-old man will serve up to six years in prison if the court convicts him of the three robberies he committed on the stairs on apartment buildings in Chisinau's Buiucani district.
Adrian Jovmir, the head of the General Police Commissariat's press office, has told Info-Prim Neo that the man from Dumbrava village is suspected of stealing three golden necklaces from young women during August 7 and 10. The necklaces cost between 3,000 and 16,000 lei.
After the victims reported the thefts, the police staged a special operation and arrested the robber. When questioned by the police, the young man said he pawned the golden necklaces at a pawn shop in Buiucani district.
The man is liable to three to six years in jail and/or a fine of 10,000 to 20,000 lei.
