Young man drowns in pond in Donduseni district

Tragedy struck a family from Arionesti village of Donduseni district. A 21-year-old man drowned in the local pond. He went to swim together with his fiancé and another two friends.
Emergencies Service spokeswoman Liliana Puscasu has told Info-Prim Neo that the young man was in the middle of the pond when he started to cry for help. His friends tried to rescue him, but did not manage to. Villagers took the body out the next day.
According to employees of the Arionesti mayor’s office, the man worked in Russia and returned home recently. The family has two younger children.
According to the Emergencies Service, 69 persons have drowned in Moldova so far this year, including seven minors.
