A man aged 19 drowned in the lake situated near the City Gates in Botanica district of Chisinau at about 11pm on June 28, IPN reports.
Contacted by IPN for details, press officer of the General Inspectorate for Emergencies Liliana Pușcașu said employees of the Botanic Rescue and Firefighting Detachment were on the spot immediately, but could only take the body out of the water.
Chisinau Police Division press officer Natalia Stati stated that the young man went to the lake together with four friends. When he started to drown, his friends tried to help him to get out, but failed to. Legal action was taken in this case.
According to the General Inspectorate for Emergencies, 26 persons, three of whom were minors, drowned in national rivers and lakes so far this year.
