A fire that broke out in a house in Borogani village of Leova district led to the death of a 20-year-old man, bedridden since childhood. The tragedy occurred on the afternoon of February 11, IPN reports.

According to the first reports, the fire had stooped burning before the firefighters arrived at the scene. The young man's father found him dead.

A number of burnt matches were found near the bed and these were probably used by the victim and the caused fire spread accidentally. Specialists of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations concluded that the fire was the result of reckless use of open fire.

The Inspectorate urges the citizens to take precautions to prevent such tragedies and to immediately call the 112 service in case of emergencies. According to the institution's data, the 247 fires that occurred so far this year resulted in 21 deaths.
