A teen aged 17 from Văleni village of Cahul district was arrested in the area monitored by the Brânza Border Police Section while he was checking traps for wild birds laid in the protection area of the Lower Prut Scientific Reserve, IPN reports.

According to the Border Police, the inspectors saw how the teen was examining the traps laid among trees. When being questioned, the young man admitted that he intended to catch wild birds.

As the culprit is too young by law, his guardian risks a fine of 350 to 600 lei for illegal presence in the border area.
