A group of five volunteers of the Party of European Socialists (PES) arrived in Chisinau, where they will take part in the election campaign of the Democratic Party (PDM) for several days. They represent left and center-left parties of Austria, Spain, France, Belgium and Germany, IPN reports.
“Though the PDM is active at national level, we are making effort to develop the international dimension of our activity. This is the first visit by a group of PES activists to Moldova. They will find facts about our country and the way in which we carry out election campaigns. The PDM is an observing member of the PES and our plans for the future include the creation of a PES group in Chisinau,” said Oleg Tulea, who is a candidate for MP on the list of the PDM.
“My generation is the generation brought up in a united Europe and I think it is a good sign that we are here as members of the Party of European Socialists and show that the European Union’s solidarity does not stop at its borders,” said Michael Meyer, a member of the Socialist Party of Austria.
The young people will stay in Chisinau for a day and will then travel during two days through districts where they will take part in the electoral meetings of the PDM members. They will leave Moldova on Sunday. A new group of volunteers will arrive in Chisinau next Monday.
