Yellow code advisory for sudden decline in temperatures

The State Hydrometeorological Service issued a yellow code advisory for a cold snap all over Moldova during January 16-19. The temperatures are expected to plummet to -15°C.

Gennady Roșca, head of the Service’s Forecasts Division, has told IPN that arctic air masses will influence the weather in the period.

During January 16-19, air temperatures will oscillate between -10 and -15°C. Daytime temperatures will vary between -5 and -10°C. There will be light snow on January 15.

According to Gennady Roșca, the average daytime temperature will be 5-7°C degrees lower than the norm of -3..-5°C.

The data of the State Hydrometeorological Service show the coldest day of January 13 on record was in 1985, when -25 degrees Celsius were recorded in Briceni. The warmest day of January 13 was in 1998, when there were + 12 degrees Celsius in Chisinau.
