WW2 shell found in Chisinau

An artillery shell was found on Thursday, May 22, on a street in Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo learned from the press unit of the Defense Ministry. According to chief army engineer Lt.Col. Alexandru Galasan, the shell was found on Socoleni Street by excavating constructors. A bomb disposal squad identified the 76-mm shell as a World War II projectile. Taking all standard precaution measures, the bomb was transported to a special ground to be disarmed. Three RCG–3M grenades and one UZRGM grenade fuse, traced to the 1992 armed conflict on the Nistru, were detected in an abandoned house in Dubasari district. Another three artillery shells, measuring 122 mm and 100 mm in caliber, were detonated in Popeasca village, Stefan Voda district. 114 hazardous explosive devices have been rendered harmless since the beginning of the year.
