The works to write the addresses on apartment buildings go on in Centru and Râșcani districts of Chisinau. This is a project implemented by the General Housing and Public Amenities Division which was initiated last year, but was already completed in Botanica and Ciocana districts. The goal of the initiative is to ensure the emergency services’ swift access in case of exceptional situations and to help the citizens to easier orient themselves and find an address.

Contacted by IPN for details, the Division’s deputy head Gennady Dubița said that as part of the project last year, addresses were written on 530 apartment buildings in Botanica. This year the works continued in Ciocana district, where addresses were imprinted on about 520 apartment buildings. The works continue in Centru and Râșcani, where addresses will appear on about 1,200 buildings.

“It comes to apartment buildings managed by municipal housing enterprises and associations which do not have the addresses marked. In many cases, there were built annexes and the layout of the building changed. It is therefore hard to determine the position, primarily in the case of emergency services or even services that perform cleanup works,” explained Gennady Dubița.

According to him, an imprinting model was designed from the start so that the words are visible and esthetic. “The address is written with reflective paint. The characters are 25 centimeters in height. The address is usually imprinted in the corner of the building so as to be more visible,” said the deputy head of the Division.

About 796,000 lei was allocated for executing the given works this year.
