Writers Union chairmanship still disputed
The office of the chairman of the Writers Union of Moldova has been sealed for about two months. The Ministry of Justice recognized Arcadie Suceveanu as the Union’s chairman as a result of the October 29 election. But academician Mihai Cimpoi, who had headed the organization for about 10 years, challenges the correctness of the election.
Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, Arcadie Suceveanu said that all the meetings of the Writers Union are held in the office that was given to him when he was deputy chairman of the Union. The writer said he heard that Mihai Cimpoi intends to dispute the Ministry of Justice’s decision in court.
Elena Gretsko, the head of the Ministry of Justice’s Noncommercial Organizations Division, told Info-Prim Neo that she has not been informed about a trial on this case. The decision whereby Arcadie Suceveanu was included in the State Register of Noncommercial Organizations as chairman of the Writers Union was taken on December 2.
Mihai Cimpoi could not be fund for comment.
Arcadie Suceveana was elected as chairman of the Writers Union in the general assembly of October 29, by 89 votes. Mihai Cimpoi won 76 votes.
