Greco-Roman wrestler Victor Ciobanu has qualified for the final of the World Wrestling Championships held in Budapest, IPN reports.
The athlete from Vărvăreuca village of Floreşti district scored four victories in the 60 kg class, against Erik Torba of Hungary, Etienne Kinsinger of Germany, Sailike Walihan of China and Kristian Fris of Serbia. In the final, Victor Ciobanu meets Russia’s Sergey Emelin.
In 2014, Victor Ciobanu won the first medal for Moldova at the European Greco-Roman Wrestling Championships after a pause of 18 years. In Finland, he won silver.
