Moldova’s Victor Ciobanu has qualified, for a second time, to the World Wrestling Championships final. In Oslo, the Greco-Roman wrestler will encounter Kyrgyzstan’s Zholaman Sharshenbekov, whom he soundly defeated at the Tokyo Olympic Games.
Before making to the finals though, Victor Ciobanu lost all three encounters, but eventually made a surprising comeback, beating Ukraine’s Zhora Abovian, Russia’s Stepan Maryanyan and Armenia’s Gevorg Gharibyan.
Earlier this year, Victor Ciobanu ranked 5th at the Tokyo Games. In his trophy case he also has a European champion’s title, won in 2019.
