Wrestler Victor Ciobanu becomes world vice champion

Greco-Roman wrestler Victor Ciobanu scored four victories in the 60 kg weight class at the World Wrestling Championships of Budapest, IPN reports.

The athlete from Vărvăreuca village of Floreşti district beat Hungary’s Erik Torba, Germany’s Etienne Kinsinger, Sailike Walihan of China and Serbia’s Kristian Fris, who won the title of European champion last year. In the final, Victor Ciobanu lost to Russia’s Sergey Emelin.

Victor Ciobanu brought to Moldova the first silver medal won at the Senior World Greco-Roman Wrestling Championships since 1995, after Sergey Mureiko’s success.
