Wrestler Svetlana Saenko eliminated in quarter finals

Svetlana Saenko occupied the 10th place in the 72 kg category of the women’s wrestling tournament at the Olympic Games in London, Info-Prim Neo reports. In the first round, the Moldova wrestler bested France’s Cynthia Vanessa Vescan, but lost to China’s Jiao Wang in the quarter finals. If the Chinese sportswoman had reached the final, Saenko would have competed for a bronze medal, but Wang lost in the semis to eventual champion Natalia Vorobieva from Russia. On Sunday, August 12, Nicolae Ceban will enter the wrestling contest in the 9 kg category. Today, August 10, Moldova will be represented by Zalina Marghieva in the hammer throw final. Athletes Iaroslav Musinschi and Roman Prodius will represent Moldova’s colors in the marathon competition. So far Moldova won two bronze medals thanks to weightlifters Cristina Iovu and Anatol Ciricu. The medals table is topped by the United States with 39 gold, 25 silver and 26 bronze. Moldova shares the 66th place with four other countries that won only two bronze medals.
