Wrestler Piotr Yanulov becomes European vice champion

Freestyle wrestler Piotr Yanulov won silver at the European Wrestling Championships. He scored three victories in the 86 kg class, being beaten only by Russia’s Vladislav Valiev 0-4, IPN reports.

Piotr Yanulov defeated Romania’s Mihai Palaghia, Uri Kalashnikov of Israel and Turkey’s Fatih Erdin, who won silver at the last World Championships. Yanulov, 33, is from Gagauzia. In 2015, he won silver at the European Games of Baku.

Moldovan wrestlers Nicolai Ceban and Maxim Saculțan ranked fifth. Iulia Leorda, Mariana Draguțan, Anastasia Nikita and Mariana Cherdivară will complete at the European Championships in Bucharest on April 11.
