Water supplier Apa-Canal Chisinau (ACC) will replace the water pipes from Putnei and Florilor streets on a length of 1,500 m. The decision has been taken to curb the frequent breaks of the steel pipes in the area. The works on Putnei str. are already under way. The works will last on Florilor str. from June 28 to August 1. The traffic in this area will be partially stopped. Mihai Mazurean, ACC's technical department chief has told Info- Prim Neo the pipes on those streets are as old as 30 years, while the exploitation term is 20 years. The pipes will be replaced with aqueducts from ductile cast iron, which may be exploited as long as 50 years. They are now considered the best in the world. Mazurean says renewing the aqueduct on Florilor str. will be done in three stages, as the total expenditures of the project amount to over 5 million lei, to be allocated by the company itself. At the same time, ACC and the Constructions Direction of the Municipal Council (CMC) will forward the CMC the proposal to allocate 14 million lei to renovate the aqueduct on Creanga str. This project has been partially carried out in ratio of 50% with ACC's money. Mazurean says in case the CMC passes the expected decision, ACC plans to replace the steel aqueduct on Uzinelor str. supplying Bubuieci commune, and being in a disastrous state now. The expenditures are assessed at over 6 million lei.
