An Art Festival for children with disabilities themed “Gift a Smile” is being held by the NGO “Another Smiling Face” (ASF) and the Association Vita, under the patronage of the Ministry of Education, Info-Prim Neo reports. ASF project coordinator Victoria Dobrogeanu has told a news conference on Saturday this is the first festival of the kind dedicated to children with disabilities. The intention is to improve the quality of the cultural life for deaf and blind children as well as children with multiple disabilities, and also to discover and encourage their creative abilities. Alongside national and international starts, the Festival will involve pupils from special schools for disabled children. The Festival is held in the park Dendrariu in Chisinau, as a followup to the second International Conference “Poor Vision – Theory and Practice” – a global initiative to prevent blindness through access to education, increased participation and social integration of the persons with vision impairments, which was held in Chisinau during October 1-3. The goal of the project is to create opportunities for equal access to education, for participation and development for persons with poor vision, by creating a network of educational support and rehabilitation.
