World War II veterans to be provided with aid

The veterans of the Second World War will receive aid on the 64th anniversary of the victory over fascism. About 5.5 million lei was allocated from the National Population Support Fund to the local funds for the purpose, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the Ministry of Social Protection, Family and Child. Thus, the invalids and participants in the Second World War will receive by 500 lei, while the persons related to the participants in the Second World War and the husbands (wives) of the survivors, and the participants that died or where killed in action will receive by 400 lei. It is estimated that about 11,300 persons will benefit from lump sum payments. The local public authorities, the district social assistance and family protection divisions and the local veterans’ organizations will carry out thematic activities dedicated to the 64th anniversary of the victory over fascism. There will be held meetings of the World War II veterans, students and public organizations and roundtable meetings, conferences, seminars and cultural activities for and involving the veterans. Private economic entities will help organize charity meals and distribute parcels with food and industrial products and other aid. On the occasion of the 64th anniversary of the victory over fascism marked on May 9 and of the 65th anniversary of Moldova’s liberation from fascist occupation celebrated on August 24, the Ministry of Social Protection, Family and Child urges the population to help care after the Second World War veterans that are confined to bed or remained without support, contribute to the restoration of the monuments and graves of those that died or were killed in action and offer support to this group of people.
