World leaders pledge to continue cooperation to maintain peace in Moldova

The world leaders pledged to continue cooperation to maintain peace and stability in Moldova, to build resilience so that, in this climate of security, Moldova can develop its economy and improve the living conditions of citizens. The commitment was made during talks with President Maia Sandu on the sidelines of the European Political Community Summit, IPN reports.

The head of state had a discussion centering on the maintenance of peace and stability in the Republic of Moldova with Keir Starmer, British Prime Minister, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Romanian President Klaus Iohannis, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and European Council President Charles Michel.

Maia Sandu co-chaired, together with her French counterpart, one of the working groups of the summit, whose discussions focused on the defense of democracy in Europe.

On the agenda of the visit, the head of state also had bilateral meetings with a number of European leaders, including Prime Minister of Denmark, Mette Frederiksen, Prime Minister of Latvia, Evika Siliņa, Prime Minister of Poland, Donald Tusk, Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Dick Schoof, and the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell. The discussions focused on European integration, economic development, Moldova’s resilience and the faced challenges.

At the European Political Community Summit, President Maia Sandu also met His Majesty King Charles III, who greeted the participants in the event.

President Maia Sandu paid a visit to the UK on July 17-18, where she participated in the European Political Community Summit and discussed with Moldovan citizens living in the UK.
