World Chess Olympiad 2010 over
Moldova's chess squads completed their performance in the World Chess Olympiad held in Russia's Khanty-Mansiysk, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In the last round, the men's team beat Chile's squad 3-1. Only Vladimir Hamitsevich suffered a defeat, whereas Viorel Bologan, Viorel Iordachescu and Vasile Sanduleac scored victories. In the final, the men's squad ranked 28th out of 149 countries. The ranking was topped by Ukraine.
After three consecutive victories, the women's team lost to France's team 1-3. Diana Baciu and Carolina Smochina drew, while Elena Partac and Ana-Maria Ursu were beaten. The women's team finished 40th out of 116 countries, with Russia winning the Olympic title.
The 39th World Chess Olympiad brought together 1,380 chess players.
