World Bank provides US$570m to Moldova

The World Bank will offer Moldova total financing of US$570 million within the new country partnership strategy. The money will be transferred over the next four years. Head of Parliament Igor Corman expressed his confidence that the reforms done with support from the World Bank will contribute to creating workplaces and to ensuring energy security, to diminishing risks in agriculture and to other implemented reforms, IPN has learned from the legislature’s press service.

At a meeting with World Bank Executive Director for Moldova Frank Heemskerk, Igor Corman spoke about the efforts made by the Moldovan authorities to attract investments to the country’s economy and to build a competitive business environment.

According to Frank Heemskerk, the partnership strategy for Moldova envisions the provision of assistance based on three pillars aimed at: increasing the competitiveness of the business environment, strengthening the human capital, and diminishing the social risks. Simultaneously, the strategy will help realize the economic development potential and improve living standards.
