World Bank extends financing for Moldova
The World Bank Board of Directors decided to provide additional financing of US$10.2 million to Moldova over the next two years for improving the quality of the medical services, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Ministry of Health.
The Ministry says the decision was taken following the successful implementation of the Health Services and Social Assistance Project, while the sum will be used to continue the renovation and construction of health centers in rural areas, implement primary and hospital medical care reforms and extend the functionality of the automated information system “Social Assistance”.
Among the important results achieved within the project are the institutionalization of the National Health Accounts, the drafting of the Human Resources Strategy, and the rehabilitation of 35 health centers in rural areas and of the National Clinical Hospital by starting the construction of a new surgical bloc.
The first public-private partnership project for medical imagistic and radiology services was implemented in 2011 at the National Clinical Hospital, with the support of the International Finance Corporation.
The Health Services and Social Assistance Project is financed by the World Bank in 2007-2013.
