Works to repair several national roads become of national interest

The works to rehabilitate the roads Chisinau – Soroca, Cimislia – Vulcanesti – Giurgiulesti, and Chisinau – Ungheni – Sculeni will be declared public utility works of national interest, in accordance with a bill approved by the executive, Info-Prim Neo reports. The bill specifies the private buildings and land that are to be expropriated so as to ensure the execution of the works according to plan. They are situated on the outskirts of the district centers, along the mentioned roads. The feasibility studies for rehabilitating and extending the roads, which were carried out with support from the EU and the World Bank, show where bypasses can be built and how to improve the geographic elements that refer to road safety. They also envision the construction of a new section of about 20 km on the Porumbeni – Cimislia road. The works will be financed based on grant and lending agreements signed with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the European Investment Bank, the European Commission, and the Government of the U.S. The costs are estimated at €32 million and UD$132 million for the Chisinau – Soroca road, €57.9 million for the Cimislia – Vulcanesti – Giurgiulesti road, and €98.3 million for the Chisinau – Ungheni – Sculeni road, at the border with Romania.
