The municipality of Chisinau launched the works to repair the underground pedestrian walkway situated on Constantin Negruzzi St in Centru district of Chisinau. The works to the value of about 1 million lei are executed by the road maintenance company “Exdrupo”, IPN reports.
According to the Chisinau City Hall, the granite stairs, the walls, ceiling and pluvial drainage system will be fully rehabilitated. The LED-based lighting system will be modernized.
The municipal authorities earlier announced that eight underground pedestrian walkways will be repaired in the course of this year.
Recently, the leader of the Shor Party requested the City Hall to be allowed to restore all the pedestrian tunnels in Botanica district following the repair of the walkway located near the Chisinau International Airport. The acting mayor of Chisinau rejected the proposal, arguing the walkways will be repaired with legal and transparent funds, namely with the 10 million lei allocated from the municipal budget for the purpose.
In the municipality of Chisinau, there are 20 underground pedestrian walkways. Twelve of these were leased out to business entities.
