The Government ordered speeding up the works to rehabilitate and extend 158 km of the national road Chisinau – Cimislia – Vulcanesti – Giurgiulesti (M3) and 122.4 km of the highway Chisinau – Ungheni – Sculeni (R1), which ensure the main international connections, IPN repots.
Minister of Transport and Road Infrastructure Vasile Botnari said the projects implemented with the contribution of the World Bank envision the construction of roads that bypass settlements. Thus, there will be built roads bypassing Bahmut village and Ungheni town, the Porumbrei – Cimislia road section, and roads bypassing Cimislia, Comrat, Vulcanesti, Slobozia Mare, and Caslita-Prut.
About 220 hectares need to be bought in order to rehabilitate the two national roads. They include 860 privately-owned plots to the value of 9.59 million lei.
Under the Government’s decision, the State Road Administration will purchase the given plots from the owners as public utility land. The costs will be covered from the 2013 Road Fund.
