The local public authorities and the ministries that manage education institutions will make sure that these are ready for the 2018-2019 school year. The Cabinet approved the actions needed to ensure the proper organization of the education process, to provide the necessary teaching aids and equipment, to ensure the required hygienic-sanitary conditions, to prepare the institutions for the cold period and to prevent situations of risk for children and employees of education institutions, IPN reports.

The document also envisions the mandatory inclusion of all the children aged between 7 and 16 into the education process, the restructuring of the network of education institutions, the inclusion of students with special educational needs and the free transportation of children and teachers of rural schools on distances longer than 2 km.

The first-fourth graders will eat at school free of charge, while among the fifth-twelfth graders only the children from socially deprived families and students of education institutions located on the left side of the Nistru and in Bender municipality, which are managed by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research.

Under the Government decision, all the first-ninth graders will receive the necessary textbooks free of charge. In the tenth-twelfth grades, only the children from disfavored families will get textbooks free.

The decision also stipulates measures to fill the 2,032 vacancies in education institutions. Some of the vacant jobs are to be occupied by a part of the 872 young people who graduated from teacher training education institutions this year.

The works to prepare the education institutions and the dorms managed by these are to be finished by August 24. A sum of 9.8 billion lei was earmarked for the education system in the 2018 state budget.
