Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca asked that the works to pave the pedestrian area on A. Diordita St should start at the beginning of next week. Seven contractors presented their bids for paving the area, IPN reports.

Dorin Chirtoaca asked presenting a pre-final scheme for the placement of summer terraces and shops in the recreational area. The information will be made public and amendment suggestions will be welcome. The mayor demanded that the contracts with the entrepreneurs that want to pave the pedestrian area should be signed by the end of this week so that the works started next week.

Deputy mayor Nistor Grozavu said seven entrepreneurs that want to carry out the paving works were identified by a tender contest. Half of the economic entities offered a price of under US$30 per square meter of pavement, while the other half of over US$30.

The Chisinau street A. Diordita will be transformed into pedestrian area. It will be named the Alley of Good People. 25% of the area will be intended for cultural-artistic activities, including art exhibitions, concerts and other events.
