The intervention against ticks started in the squares and parks of the capital city. According to Sergey Carp, of the green Areas Association, the first works to combat ticks and mosquitos were performed in the squares Ginta Latină and Mircea cel Bătrân and in “Valea Morilor” Park. The grass continues to be mowed as it is rather high given that it rained enough, IPN reports.
In the ordinary meeting of officials of the municipal services, Sergey Carp said that last week there were mowed 56 hectares of grass and 16 trucks of grass were taken away. A number of 284 persons and 50 units of transport were engaged in the works to maintain and clean the green areas last week. A total of 104 persons, by 30-35 each day, were involved in the works on May 1-3.
The functionary also said that the employees also cleaned the Byk riverbed, collected waste from 10 hectares of land and cleared 3,000 square meters of mud.
