The Chisinau City Hall and the Technical University of Moldova (UTM) launched the works to erect the first automated parking lot in central Chisinau. The four-story garage will be based on a car elevator parking system and will have 40 places. According to the contractor, the parking lot will be made available by the Chisinau City’s Day and will offer reasonable prices, IPN reports.
Mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban said they met with bureaucratic difficulties, but the documentation is now in order. The contractor will build the first ever modular-type multi-storey car park. “Parking is a top priority for the Chisinau City Hall. We are now finishing the parking opportunity study in the municipality. We have also partners in Romania. In parallel, we are carrying out the qualitative and quantitative research as regards the eventual costs and taxes. This year we will build a number of parking lots, starting with “La izvor”, where about 500 parking places will become available,” stated the mayor.
UTM rector Viorel Bostan welcomed the initiative, saying Block of study No. 2 situated on 31 August 1989 St experienced problems in the parking area intended for teachers, students and visitors. “The investors proposed an interesting innovative concept for the Republic of Moldova. It is not something new. The largest capital cities of the world have such automated parking lots that will serve as an example for our students to design different mobile applications or to try and extend the smart concept at this parking lot,” stated the rector.
Viorel Bostan noted the project is an opportunity for the students of UTM and teachers to expand the innovative technologies. The concept can be extended to cover more parts of the city. The investor is a private company and UTM only leases the area out. “The investor erects and uses the parking lots, while we will contribute technologies,” said the rector.
