The sixth International Violin Music Festival “Queen Violin” is taking place in Chisinau. It involves artists from Moldova, Romania, Israel and the United States. Romanian violinist Alexandru Tomescu is the event’s special invitee, IPN reports, quoting the program of the festival.

The opening ceremony will be held at the National Philharmonic “Sergey Lunkevich” on September 3, at 7pm. It will be followed by a concert dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the birth of violinist and conductor Sergey Lunkevich, where there will be performed works from the master’s repertoire, orchestrated and conducted by Vasile Goia.

On the second day of the festival, violinists from Moldova and abroad will give a performance at the Organ Hall, starting at 7pm. On September 5, the traditional meeting of the public with the best students of the music lyceum “Ciprian Porumbescu” will take place in the small hall of the National Philharmonic, starting at 6pm.

The festival closes on September 6 with an extraordinary concert at the National Philharmonic, under the direction of conductor Dumitru Goia, starting at 7pm.

This year’s concerts will involve the Symphonic Orchestra, the Choral Music Band “Doina” of the National Philharmonic “Sergey Lunkevich” and the National Chamber Orchestra, soloists Ilya Konovalov (Israel), Artur Kaganovskyi (USA), Eszter Szilveszter (Romania) and the young violinists from Moldova Ionel Manciu, Dan-Iulian Drutac, Marin Bunea, and Simion Goia-Feraru.

Tickets to the concerts cost 50 to 100 lei. Entrance to the meeting with students of the lyceum “Ciprian Porumbescu” is free.

The sixth International Violin Music Festival “Queen Violin” was launched in 2009 on the initiative of musicians Dumitru and Vasile Goia, who are People’s Artists. The major objectives are to promote the Moldovan violin school and to support the national talents.
