Works in ceramics and and paintings by of departed Nelly Sajina are exposed at the National Arts Museum of Moldova. Her works adorn the hall of different halls in the country. Among those: 6 figures in the hall of Opera and Ballet Theater, Bionica I and Fizica in the Genetics Institute of the Moldovan Science Academy, etc., Info-Prim Neo reports. “Apart from being an exceptional professional, Nelly Sajina was also a real experimenter. Her name remains in the Moldovan fine art, especially in ceramics which now is very little practiced in this country,” said Svetlana Pociumban, the deputy director of the museum, on February 5, at the inauguration of the exhibition. “In terms of intensity and rhythm of creation, Nelly Sajina was one of the most active fine artists in this country, what is confirmed not only by the multitude of topics and images she resorted to, but also by the unpredictable manner she approached them in,” remarked Tudor Braga, an arts critic. “Nelly Sajina's son, Vladimir Novicov, donated two works of the artist to the National Arts Museum. We hope the art lovers will enjoy them,” said Tudor Zbarnea, a painter and the director of the Moldovan Arts Museum. Valentina Enache, a professor with the Free International University from Moldova (ULIM), says the exhibition is a real event for the spirit. “I noticed perfect national colors in all the works. I admire her for she knew to highlight the Moldovan national traditions with much accuracy, although she did not come from Moldova,” the professor said. Nelly Sajina (January 23, 1938 – March 4, 1996) was born in Russia's Chelyabinsk oblast. In 1966, after graduating from fine arts school V.I. Muhina, she came to Moldova, where she manifested herself as one of the most interesting and original artists. In 1969, Nelly Sajina became a member of the USSR's Painters Union, what enabled her to participate in numerous international contests. Her works are exhibited in the National Arts Museum of Moldova, in the Expo Direction of Moscow, and in the Gallery of Tighina. The exhibition will stay open till March 1, 2009.
