Workforce Agency announces employment prospects for 2014

The job barometer for 2014, compiled by the National Employment Agency (ANOFM), shows that among specialists with higher education the most likely to get employed are doctors, managers and commercial experts. At the opposite end are those from the law and economic fields and several branches of agriculture, as well as veterinarians, IPN.

The employment chances for teachers in secondary professional education, police officers, civil engineers and social workers are average.

ANOFM director Ion Holban said during a press conference that this year about 40,000 jobs will be available on the market, while 3000 unemployed will finalize professional training courses.

The job barometer for 2014 highlights the main domains in need of specialists and those that are saturated. Employment prospects this year look good for seamstresses, cooks, waiters, shop assistants, commerce and insurance agents, etc. However, accountants with average qualification, machinists and tractor drivers will have less chances to get employed.

One the problems of the job market is that a large proportion of the population fit for work lives in rural areas, whereas most jobs are available in cities.

Ion Holban says that the research results should act as an alarm signal for the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Economy and should be taken into consideration when planning the training of specialists and adjusting their number to the market demand.

According to ANOFM data, 38,800 unemployed were registered during 11 months last year, which is 8200 less than during the same period of 2012.
