Twelve women will take part in the Ladies Charity Tennis Cup 2013 that will be held at the “Zimbru” sports complex in Chisinau on September 20-22. The competition is organized by the Moldovan Tennis Federation.
The Federation’s president Marina Tauber has told IPN that the participants are mainly business women, but they also include Ambassador Jenifer Brush, Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova. They paid by US$200 for being able to take part in the tournament. The proceeds will go to children’s homes.
Marina Tauber said that the Moldovan Tennis Federation plans to later involve children who remained without parental care in a number of tennis-related activities. The children will be invited to the Federations’ clubs and to the organized tournaments.
“We want to show that by sport we can help those who are in need. We will see whom we can help, depending on the collected funds,” added Marina Tauber. The Ladies Charity Tennis Cup 2013 is the first competition of the kind, but the Federation aims to make it a tradition.
