A 36-year-old woman was hospitalized in the intensive care unit after she stabbed her two underage children and then tried to commit suicide. The psychiatrist who talked to her says the woman acted without discernment. Her one year old girl is safe, while the 12 year old son’s condition is serious, but stable.

Steluta Andreev, spokesperson of the Mother & Child’s Institute, told IPN that the girl was hospitalized with multiple knife woulds, but none of them reached any vital organs. She underwent surgery under general anesthesia. The doctors checked if her internal organs are intact. She is currently beyond any danger.

The deputy medical director of the V. Ignatenco Children’s Hospital, Vitalie Mihalcian, said that the 12 year old boy is in the intensive care unite and his state is serious, but stable. He underwent surgery and the doctors treated his wounds. The knife damaged some tendons and blood vessels. The boy’s locomotor system was also damaged. He lost a lot of blood and needed a transfusion.

Police press officer Natalia Stati told IPN that the woman will be investigated for attempted homicide. The first thing to find out is what pushed the woman to such a step. From what is known so far, she wasn’t drinking excessively and the family wasn’t a vulnerable one.

The police were alerted at 10.30 PM. When they arrived on the spot, in the Botanica sector of Chisinau, they realized the woman had stabbed her children then tried to kill herself.
