President Maia Sandu pardoned Natalia Ursachi, the mother of five who was sentenced to six years in jail for not repaying a loan. The decree was signed on December 13, IPN reports.
“Convict Ursachi Natalia Nicolae, born in 1989, who was sentenced by the Bălți Appeals Court on February 25, 2020, is pardoned and freed from the non-served part of the sentence. The given decree takes effect when it is signed,” runs the decree.
In mid-November, the lawyer and the family of Natalia Ursachi had a meeting with President Maia Sandu. They asked to review the decision concerning the mother with five children. Earlier, at the suggestion of the pardoning commission, President Sandu refused to pardon Natalia Ursachi for the reason that the file didn’t meet a number of conditions.
Natalia Ursachi was initially sentenced to eight years in jail for not repaying a loan of €8,000, but the Appeals Court reduced the sentence to six years. The woman raises alone five children who are now in the care of their grandmother.
