Woman will serve 11 years in prison for human trafficking and swindle
A woman was sentenced to 11 years in jail for trafficking in human beings, illegal entrepreneurial activities and swindle, Info-Prim Neo has learned from the press service of the General Prosecutor’s Office.
According to prosecutors, last year the woman organized the transportation of two women from Basarabeasca district to Italy. The women paid 7,000 euros to the offender for these services, but did not get to the destination as they were discovered by customs officers in Slovakia and repatriated. The woman transported a resident of Cimislia to Italy for 3,800 euros. Shortly afterward, the man was found dead in Poland. The cause of the death is still unknown.
Without having a legally registered company and license in the area, the offender helped a woman from Cimislia to go abroad for 3,200 euros. Afterward, she swindled another 650 euros out of a relative of the woman. She was to transmit the money to the woman, but out of the total sum the woman got only 200 euros.
The sentence is not definitive and can be appealed as stipulated by the law.
