The woman from Căușeni, who killed her 5-year-old son in mid-September and then tried to commit suicide, died suddenly in the medical institution where she was going to have a psychiatric evaluation.
Contacted by IPN for details, Violina Moraru, spokeswoman for the Prosecutor General’s Office, said that after the child’s death, a criminal investigation was initiated on the basis of a reasonable suspicion that the woman committed intentional murder and the necessary evaluation was ordered.
“During the criminal investigation, in order to ascertain whether the accused was legally competent, the need for a psychiatric evaluation appeared. For this purpose, the woman was referred to the Chisinau Psychiatric Hospital. On October 15, the defendant died suddenly inside the medical institution,” said Violina Moraru.
According to the coroner, no signs of violent death were detected. The causes of death are examined within criminal proceedings.
On September 16, in a locality in Căușeni district, the police found the body of a 5-year-old boy. The child's mother, aged 39, had a wound in the neck region. She tried to commit suicide. It was found that the woman suffered from an organic delusional disorder with schizophrenic tendencies. She was undergoing treatment as she was affected by the loss of another child and her husband. After this case, a daughter of the woman was transferred in the care of relatives.
