Woman sustained severe facial burns in home explosion
A Chisinau woman, 34, sustained severe facial injuries after attempting to ignite a leaky gas stove in the common kitchen of a tenement on Constantin Brancusi Street Tuesday night at 23:30.
Apparently the blast erupted after the previous user forgot to turn off the gas.
The woman is now recovering in hospital.
A fire that erupted in a home on Onisifor Ghibu Street caused burns and carbon monoxide poisoning to a family of three, including a 3-year-old boy. According to preliminary investigations, the cause of the fire was reckless smoking indoors.
On Tuesday and in the small hours of Wednesday morning the Chisinau Emergency Service responded to 770 calls, including 67 cases of trauma, 72 cases of acute viral diseases, 2 of which possibly meningitis, and 3 brain strokes.
