Woman survives fall from 8th floor, but doctors not hopeful
A Floresti woman, 46, suffered multiple injuries after falling from the 8th floor of a building under construction in Chisinau on Thursday afternoon.
With open head injuries, cerebral contusion, and multiple bone fractures, the woman is now receiving treatment at the Emergency Hospital, but doctors are not optimistic about her survival odds, a spokesperson said.
This is the second case this week in Chisinau involving a fall from a building site. On Monday, the life of a 36-year-old construction worker was saved by his colleagues. The workman slipped from the 5th floor at the building site, but was luckily caught by other workers at the third. The man suffered cerebral contusion and a bruised his head, but emergency doctors said he was “lucky to be alive”.
On Thursday, a 48-year-old woman was struck by a taxicab on Mesterul Manole Street, suffering brain concussion and head trauma.
Two young persons traveling in a BMW car were badly injured after the vehicle ran into lamppost.
A 75-year-old woman called an ambulance to her home, claiming she fell out of a trolleybus earlier that day. The woman was diagnosed with brain concussion and fractures of the left ribs.
On Friday morning at around 6:00 a Toyota car driven at high speeds on Ialoveni-Suruceni roadway by a 35-year-old man left the carriageway and overturned. The driver escaped with minor injuries.
Over the past day and night, the Chisinau Emergency Service responded to 703 calls, including 65 cases of acute viroses, 69 cases of trauma, and 5 brain strokes.
