Woman sentenced to 3 years of jail with reprieve for Jumbo blast
The Botanica district court has condemned the owner of a restaurant called “Slavyansky Traktir” to 3 years of jail for violating fire protection rules, on April 2. The prosecutors believe the sentence to be too mild and say they will appeal it, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the press service of the General Prosector's Office, the indictee was granted a reprieve during 1 year.
After the blast on February 14, 2008, in the restaurant within Jumbo Trade Center from Chisinau, 12 people got injured. Seven people were hospitalized with burns from 3% to 45%. The rest of the people suffered minor injuries.
The prosecutors have found that the explosion was caused by a leakage from the gas cylinder in the restaurant kitchen, as the fire protection rules were breeched.
