An apartment in a five-story residential building in Chisinau was engulfed in flames last night. Two men were evacuated from the second-floor apartment. A 58-year-old woman was no longer showing signs of life when the firefighters arrived.

Press officer of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations Liliana Pușcașu has told IPN that the fire occurred in an apartment building located on Vadul lui Vodă St. The call to the 112 Service was received close to 01:00 a.m.

Five teams of firefighters and rescuers travelled to the scene immediately. Things in an apartment with an area of about 50 square meters were burning. During the intervention, firefighters evacuated two men, aged 35 and 40, from the burning apartment. These were given first aid by doctors on the spot and refused to go to the hospital. A 58-year-old woman, who was taken out of the fire, could not be saved.
