Woman gives birth during family visit
A Dubasari woman, 33, gave birth to a healthy child while visiting some relatives in Chisinau’s suburban town of Gratiesti.
Anatol Proca, doctor coordinator at the Chisinau Emergency Service, has told Info-Prim Neo that the woman was at her third delivery and everything went without complications. The mother and the newborn were transported to a hospital for postnatal care and medical examination.
A 29-year-old man took a bottle of 50 aspirin pills in a suicide attempt. However, the only risk the man put himself at is acid-associated stomach burns, as an overdose of aspirin is normally not life-threatening.
A man, thought to be about 37-40, was found dead near the stairway of an apartment house on the Onisifor Ghibu Street. Apparently, the man was homeless and bore no signs of violent death.
Yesterday in the evening, a 31-year-old male driver of a Suzuki motor scooter struck a 53-year-old woman, who was taken to hospital with head injuries. The man was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol, and so were 18 other drivers.
On March 3, the daily incidence of mumps hit a new record-high of 68 cases. All the infectious disease hospitals in the city are said to be overcrowded.
Over the past day and night, the Emergency Service recorded 867 calls, responding to 79 cases of acute viral diseases, 63 cases of trauma and 6 brain strokes.
