A 62-year-old woman who was struck by a motorcyclist on Decebal Blvd. in Chisinau in the evening of July 1 died this morning in the hospital. The information was confirmed by the police.

According to the head of the press service of the Chisinau Police Division Adrian Jovmir, the woman was jaywalking when she was hit.

Doctors of the Emergency Hospital, to which the woman was rushed, avoided giving details about her state of health, saying the victim’s family hasn’t been yet informed about the accident.

The motorcyclist aged 32 was also taken to the hospital. He suffered only minor injuries and was soon allowed to go home.

A criminal case was started against the motorcyclist. If he is found guilty, he would serve three to seven years in prison. The results of the alcoholemy test are not yet ready.
