A 58-year-old woman died after she was struck by a minibus that was moving backwards. It happened on a local road in Dângeni village of Ocnița district.

Press officer of the Ocnița Police Inspectorate Dina Fomin has told IPN that the driver aged 37 didn’t make sure there was no one behind him when he was driving backwards. He told the police that he saw no one there. As a result of the impact, the woman, who was from the village, was rushed to the District Hospital, but could not be saved.

The driver is investigated outside remand and faces three to seven years behind bars and ban on driving for a period of up to four years.
